Williamson ha provato la McLaren 2008 a Silverstone
Per il pilota di GP3 si è trattato del premio per la vittoria nell'Autosport BRDC Award

Molti giovani avranno il loro primo assaggio di Formula 1 la settimana prossima ad Abu Dhabi, ma Lewis Williamson è riuscito a togliersi questo sfizio oggi a Silverstone. Il pilota britannico ha potuto cimentarsi al volante della McLaren MP4-23A, monoposto con cui Lewis Hamilton si è laureato campione del mondo nel 2008, come premio per aver conquistato l'Autosport BRDC Award nella passata stagione.
Il 21enne, fresco di una stagione positiva in GP3, nella quale è riuscito anche ad imporsi in un'occasione, proprio a Silverstone, ha completato una quindicina di giri e nonostante l'asfalto bagnato è rimasto impressionato dalle prestazioni della vettura.
"E' stato assurdo: la vettura ha talmente tanta potenza che non ti lascia neanche il tempo di pensare. Ogni volta che tornavo in pista però mi sentivo davvero felice. Anche sui freni c'è tanto da imparare, perchè puoi spostare continuamente il tuo limite" ha commentato Williamson.
"Il fondo era piuttosto scivoloso, ma con una vettura come questa è decisamente più facile provare ad avvicinarsi al limite. In ogni caso devi essere estremamente fluido nella guida, perchè la macchina è veramente molto sensibile" ha concluso.
